New Project: Kombucha - Colony of Steve

Recently, one of my friends noticed that I frequently drink Kombucha (commercial) and she mentioned that she had a SCOBY that she could give me so that I could make my own.

I jumped at the opportunity and so the colony of Steve began (first photo). After brewing the tea and going through the fermentation process, a new baby SCOBY formed at the top!!! A few more days passed and now I have 2 gallons of fresh Kombucha!! It is bubbly and tart all at the same time. Simply delicious.

This was definitely a great event.

Amazing read - Empty Mansions

When I purchased Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell Jr., I was hoping that it would give me glimpse into what life was for one of the families that has been synonymous with building the United States. Page by page, Bill and Paul were were able to thoughtfully present copious amount of historical information in a manner that any reader can enjoy.

Page by page, I began to have more questions about Huguette Clark and how she lived in a world of unbelievable wealth cloaked in mystery. With being the daughter of W.A. Clark, whose achievements rival that of the Vanderbilts and the Rockefellers; Huguette had a lavish childhood and later faced obstacles as an adult that placed her in a state of systematic chaos.

For those that enjoy learning about a family that shaped the history of the United States, Empty Mansions will give you insight into a family that was almost forgotten.

Saturday Mornings - Atherton Mills Market

Located in the heart of Southend, the Saturday morning market at Atherton Mills is such an exciting local venue that must be on your list to visit. Vendors include fresh produce, all natural goods, meats and more! It is truly a great space for everyone to meet local small businesses in Charlotte. The energy of this space is inspiring and I promise you will not leave disappointed.

Dogs are welcome all throughout the market!

Also, you can't visit the market with stopping at Not Just Coffee.

Luna's Living Kitchen - a New Fresh Experience

Always a delightful meal when I visit Luna's Living Kitchen. No need to worry about the "full ugly stomach" feeling afterwards. I ordered the Avocado and Basil Sandwich with a Pura Vida (Carrot, Apple, Orange, Lemon). Such fresh food that is prepared without refined sugars, preservatives, eggs, dairy or animal products. All are welcomed deitary/lifestyles alike.

Enjoy!!!

Skyline Charlotte Art - Street Art

In advance of the construction of Tyron Place, the city in conjunction with various groups have put together a great public art space that is truly unique for the city. It is located on the corner of South Tryon and E. Stonewall. Check it out before it is taken down for construction, it has been a great community space thus far with several pop up venues/shows.
